4Something good to start with  Jun 14, 2008
Now this book had me going when I was new in recording and mixing. Frustration comes when you do not know anything in the field of mixing. But with this, I had something to refer to. I recommend this one for other beginners like me.

5Amazing!!  Jun 08, 2008
I was constantly finding myself disappointed with the finished products to my band's music because comparing it to what you hear on the radio it was awful in comparison. After studying this book my mixes sound way more professional and i've never been so proud of my work until now. Highly recommended!!

4some good nuggets, but not enough  Apr 12, 2008
There are some interesting tips and tricks mentioned in this book, and it increased my confidence (after reading the many different and contradictory approaches in the interviews) in following my own instincts next time I do a home recording project. The main problem is that almost everything in the book is there twice- organized by interview, and again by subject area. So it's like reading the same book twice, organized two different ways. That said, most of the content is informative, and just keep in mind the amount of content is half of what you'd expect based on the page count, before deciding to buy.

5Lots of Detail, Easy to Understand  Apr 12, 2008
I highly recommend this book for anyone, like me, who is working to coax a better sound out of their project studio. Yes, ideally all your music would get professionally mixed and mastered. But this book (and its companion, "Mastering", which I also bought) have been absolutely invaluable for three reasons:
1) These books answer questions you have, plain and simple. If you don't know what compression is, for example, it will tell you in plain English.
2) This knowledge makes it easier to make your own mixes much better.
3) If you do go out and have your stuff professionally mixed or mastered, then, you will go into the situation much better prepared.

I'm not sure how useful these books would be to someone who really knows what they're doing, but the "Interviews with Pros" section might be of more interest to them. In any event, the books are littered with tips and tricks and ideas, and I am very happy that I bought them.

5Great book  Apr 12, 2008
I'm not new to music or digital recording, but I wanted to get better recordings. This book helped me immensely! Clearly written and with lots of practical mixing advice.
