4Pro/e WF3 review  May 27, 2008
Pretty much as advertised. This manual is helpful for the beginner, but a current user will end up finding it a bit slim on real world applications. It is not as thorough as a real user guide.

4Good beginner tutorial.   Mar 02, 2008
This tutorial is great for beginners who are using Pro/E Wildfire 3.0 for the first time. It doesn't cover some of the really advanced features, but Pro/E is just to deep of a program for that to be possible. Overall, it's an excellent book to teach the ins and outs of Pro/E, and it gets you very comfortable with designing almost anything imaginable. My one complaint is that, at times, the tutorial seems to get a bit wordy.

5LEARN AT HOME WITH EASE!  Sep 19, 2007
THIS PRODUCT WILL ALLOW YOU TO GET A HEAD START ON FAMILIARITY OF PRO/E PRIOR TO TRAINING OR SELF TEACH AT HOME. PRO/E FOR DUMMIES? NOT EXACTLY. PRO/E FOR THE MOTIVATED! I HAVE WASTED A LOT OF MONEY ON VARIOUS THINGS; THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE THINGS! THANKS, ROGER!

5Excellent ProE Introduction  Jul 07, 2006
I am a Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of New Hampshire. I used this book to introduce a Freshman level design course to the use of Pro/Engineer. I selected this one based on its thoughtful step-by-step approach. Toogood also keeps his book up to date with a new edition for each new release of ProE. The reaction from the students in the class is generally positive and they are able to progress through the ten lessons at the rate of about one per week.

Because the author, Toogood, has experience in teaching this material to his own students he correctly anticipates where they are likely to be confused or make mistakes. The text is very good at anticipating these pitfalls and explaining how to avoid them.

I also used the text as the basis for a "short course" taught to upper level undergraduates. We were able to progress through the material at the rate of two lessons per day, making the ten lessons fit nicely into a one week course.

Just commenting on some of the negative statements made by reviewers of the Wildfire 2.0 book; this is an introductory book, but it contains about as much information as I can expect my students to absorb in an introductory course. While not perfect, it is pretty good and certainly doesn't contain the numerous errors claimed by some reviewers.

Overall, this is an excellent introduction to a powerful CAD package and I recommend it highly.
